Experienced Directors

For over 60 years, the Alswanger family has created a warm, friendly and fun-filled environment at Long Ridge Camp.  Our goal is to provide a happy and healthy summer for all of our children.  At our core, we consider ourselves Youth Development Experts. 

We endeavor to enhance self-confidence, develop leadership skills, and instill sportsmanship within our instructional camp program.  We are dedicated to helping campers expand their horizons, meet new challenges, and make friends.  Long Ridge Camp creates memories for life!

 

GEOFF ALSWANGER

Entering his 17th season as director of Long Ridge Camp, Geoff has an extensive camp background. In addition to being a camper, Geoff has been associated with Long Ridge Camp for more than 25 years including CIT, assistant counselor, head counselor, swim specialist and off-season duties. 

In the 1990’s, he was head coach of the JCC travel high school basketball team. Geoff was the 2006 Maccabi Games Basketball Commissioner responsible for organizing the tournament for over 500 basketball players from 52 teams throughout the world. 

Prior to returning to the Long Ridge Camp family, Geoff held key executive roles in fast-growing technology companies, where he served as CFO and later as Executive Vice President in charge of all operations.  He has also been a board member of venture-backed companies.  

Geoff has also served on the board of area non-profits and in elected service to the community.   

Geoff holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
 

 

HERM ALSWANGER

Since 1962, as director and founder of Long Ridge Camp, Herm has extensive experience in camping, sports programming and group leadership.  Herm is a former department head of guidance as well as former head basketball coach at Stamford High School. Herm holds a Master's degree and sixth year Certificate in Education and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut.

 

MYRNA ALSWANGER

Since 1962, as director and co-founder of Long Ridge Camp, Myrna has extensive camping background including waterfront director, dance instructor as well as CPR instructor.  She is a former guidance counselor and teacher in the Stamford Public Schools.  Myrna holds a Master's degree in Counseling and a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina.
